The first of these events, to be held on August 16, will outline the proposals that the delegation of the Bolivarian Republic will bring to the IX Meeting of the Continental Latin American and Caribbean Network, which will take place in October in Mexico.
Two days before, the #FidelX100pre International Symposium will begin, which will be the worldwide starting point of the celebration for the centenary of the birth of the Cuban Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro, on August 13, 1926, in Birán, present province of Holguín, in eastern Cuba.
The national coordinator of the Venezuela-Cuba Mutual Friendship and Solidarity Movement, Yhonny García, reported that this event will be of great impact as it constitutes the starting point to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Fidel “one of the most distinguished men of this century and stronghold of the Cuban Revolution”.
A press release reported that the International Symposium is expected to be attended by the biographer of the Cuban revolutionary leader, Katiuska Blanco, the former ambassador in Caracas Germán Sánchez Otero, and the intellectual and director of Casa de las Americas in Havana, Abel Prieto.
The source indicated that the purpose of this meeting is to continue promoting Fidel’s thought, his work and legacy, which mark a historic milestone and are a permanent reference for new generations.
Representatives of the island’s embassy in Venezuela thanked the “consistent and determined support” to Cuba by the Venezuelan people, the Government and the Movement for Friendship and Mutual Solidarity, as Hugo Chavez and Fidel had always dreamed, and today it is materialized in the brotherhood of presidents Nicolás Maduro and Miguel Díaz-Canel.
