Cuban Communist Party analyzes top priority social issues

Havana, July 4 (Prensa Latina) Top priority social issues are the focus of the agenda of the 10th Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), which began in Havana, presided over by its First Secretary and President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel.

At the beginning of the meeting, PCC Organization Secretary Roberto Morales addressed the complex situation the country is facing, marked by the strengthening of the blockade imposed by the United States, economic difficulties, and external pressures.

Morales noted that although these coercive measures seek to subdue the spirit of the Cuban people, they continually show their capacity for resilience and dignity, according to a report by the Presidency of the Republic on the social media platform X.

The party leader expressed that “scarcity, limitations, and attempts to discourage us are knocking on doors and consciences.” Amid these adversities, he said, “every day becomes a challenge.”

Referring to the significance of the 10th plenary session, he affirmed that this meeting is vitally important, as the PCC is the force and compass that guides us toward everyone’s well-being and is responsible for ensuring that the people’s needs are met.

“Let us analyze the problems in depth; let us define the actions that will bring them closer to solving them; and let us mobilize the nation toward achieving results,” he emphasized.

During this first day of the party meeting, the new proposals for co-optation as members of the political organization’s highest leadership structure were presented.

The new members unanimously approved are: Major General Raul Villar, head of the Central Army; Brigadier General Oscar A. Callejas, head of the Political Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior; and the first vice president of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, Magda Resik.
