In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates emphasized BRICS’ support for the Palestinian cause.
The ministry also called for urgent international intervention to force Israel to halt “its aggression and its war of extermination, displacement (of people), and annexation.”
It stressed the need to restart a political negotiation process to resolve the conflict in accordance with international principles.
The Foreign Ministry defended the right of the Palestinian people to exercise self-determination and to create a national state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In the final declaration, released yesterday, the BRICS advocated for a two-state solution and reiterated their support for full Palestinian membership in the United Nations.
“We urge the parties to open, in good faith, new negotiations with a view to achieving an immediate, permanent, and unconditional ceasefire,” the statement said.
It also criticized the forced displacement, whether temporary or permanent, under any pretext, of the Palestinian population in both the West Bank and Gaza.
