Havana, July 8 (Prensa Latina) The National Assembly of the People’s Power of Cuba (Parliament) will assess in its fifth regular period the progress of the government program to correct distortions and revive the economy in each area of society, it was reported today.

The secretary of the legislative body, Homero Acosta, disclosed that the Standing Committees of the Parliament will analyze on 14 and 15 more than 80 topics of national current affairs, transversal by the government strategy.

Acosta detailed that during the parliamentary days, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero will update on the impact of the program’s measures, the fulfillment of its 10 objectives, the difficulties they face, as well as the actions implemented to correct and revive the economy in various areas.

Parliamentarians will knowhow the economy goes on during the first half, the liquidation of the budget for the previous year and its planned implementation by 2025.

As announced at a press conference by the Secretary of the Parliament, proposals for laws on the “Cuban Sports System”, the “General Regime of Contraventions and Administrative Sanctions”, the “Civil Registry” and the “Code of Childhood, teenagers and Youth” will also be discussed.

It is an agenda, he said, which is mainly marked by economic issues, “although it must be said that, in evaluating the government programme presented by the Prime Minister, practically all spheres of the economy and society are included because these objectives correspond to the entire social, economic and development framework of our country”.

As part of the National Assembly’s agenda, lawmakers will approve the country’s foreign policy guidelines for the period 2025-2028.

They will also receive the Government’s program update for the recovery of the National Electroenergetic System, a very sensitive issue, said Acosta, due to its impact on the life of the population and the economy.
