A press report on Thursday’s dialogue stated that both ministers highlighted the strategic potential of the Peruvian-Chinese megaport of Chancay and the importance of advancing a bi-oceanic connection that would boost bilateral trade and generate benefits for both countries.

As part of the visit, Vieira was received at the Government Palace by President Jose Jeri, with whom he also talked about Brazil’s interconnection with the Pacific Ocean via the Chancay megaport.

A Brazilian technical team visited the terminal a few months ago and expressed interest in a project to build a multimodal route from the Brazilian Atlantic to the Peruvian Pacific.

The route would lower the cost of transporting goods, mainly soybeans, by reducing the distance and, therefore, the transit time to the Asian market.

Brasil y Perú ratifican interés en integración física interoceánica

Lima, 30 ene (Prensa Latina) La ratificación del interés común en impulsar la integración física entre el Pacífico y el Atlántico destaca hoy entre los resultados de una reunión del canciller de Brasil, Mauro Vieira, y de Perú, Hugo de Zela.

Según un informe a la prensa sobre el diálogo de ayer, ambos destacaron el potencial estratégico del megapuerto peruano-chino de Chancay y la importancia de avanzar en una conexión bioceánica, que dinamice el comercio bilateral y genere beneficios para ambos países.

Como parte de la visita, el canciller Vieira fue recibido en el Palacio de Gobierno por el presidente José Jerí, con quien también habló sobre la interconexión de Brasil con el Océano Pacífico por el megapuerto de Chancay.

Una avanzada técnica brasileña visitó esa terminal meses atrás y manifestó interés en un proyecto de construcción de una ruta multimodal desde el Atlántico brasileño hasta el Pacífico peruano.

La ruta abarataría los costos del transporte de mercadería, principalmente soya, al reducir la distancia y, por ende, el tiempo de transporte al mercado asiático.
