A press report states that both ministers highlighted the strategic potential of the Peruvian-Chinese megaport of Chancay and the importance of advancing a bi-oceanic connection that would boost bilateral trade and generate benefits for both countries.
As part of the visit, Vieira was received at the Government Palace by President Jose Jeri, with whom he also talked about Brazil’s interconnection with the Pacific Ocean via the Chancay megaport.
A Brazilian technical team visited the terminal a few months ago and expressed interest in a project to build a multimodal route from the Brazilian Atlantic to the Peruvian Pacific.
The route would lower the cost of transporting goods, mainly soybeans, by reducing the distance and, therefore, the transit time to the Asian market.
