In a statement read at the Cuban Embassy in this capital, as part of the international initiative Bridges of Love, the organization reaffirmed that, in these moments of historical trial, Cuba is not alone.
The message emphasized that the Cuban people have demonstrated, once again, that the dignity, resistance, and political consciousness forged in more than six decades of Revolution are stronger than the blockade, media aggression, and destabilization moves promoted by imperialism.
The statement highlighted that this year, as the centennial of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro is commemorated, his profoundly Marti-inspired and Latin Americanist thought, his humanist vision of politics, and his unwavering defense of Cuban independence are remembered.
Fidel not only inherited Marti’s ideals, but transformed them into revolutionary practice, building a nation that placed life, education, and human dignity at the heart of its social project, the text stated.
It also pointed out that the new challenges facing Cuba are not the result of a failed model, but a direct consequence of the “criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States and intensified in recent days with unilateral and extraterritorial coercive measures.” It emphasized that solidarity is not a gesture, but a historical duty; that defending Cuba is defending the right of peoples to be free; and that Latin American unity is the only response to imperial aggression. Truth will prevail. Solidarity
will prevail. Cuba is not alone.” jdt/oda/ybv
