Speaking to Prensa Latina, Cesar Sequeira, a member of one of the solidarity committees with Cuba in this Central American nation, referred to the recent executive order signed by US President Donald Trump, which seeks to completely block fuel supplies to the island.
“They are trying to minimize the development of the Cuban people. These are fascist measures, contrary to human development, to life, and to world peace, but the Cuban people will prevail,” Sequeira stated.
He affirmed that solidarity nations such as Nicaragua, Russia, and China will continue their support for Cuba, while also expressing their rejection of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade that the United States has maintained against Cuba for more than six decades.
For his part, Jose Alfonso, another friend of the island, stated that Cuba poses no threat to the United States and called the rhetoric used by Washington to justify its actions against Havana hypocritical.
“They (the United States) are the threat to the world. With this measure, they want to bring the Cuban people to their knees and seize their territory, but they will not succeed, because Cuba is an impregnable bastion of dignity and courage, and we Nicaraguans will support it to the very end,” he emphasized.
“We will continue the fight against this savage imperialism, and we tell them that the more the blockade, the more solidarity,” declared the young Nicaraguan woman, Sochi Ocampo.
