A report from the National Institute of Statistics (Istat) points out that the increase in Italian sales abroad that month was related to a 1,9% rise in exports to non-EU countries, while trade with EU countries showed a decrease of 1,1 percentage points.
The analysis, published on the official website of this government agency, also highlights that during the fourth quarter of 2025, exports decreased by 1,4% and imports by 0,2 percentage points, compared to the previous three months.
Istat experts highlighted that, in December 2025, exports grew by 4,9% year-on-year in monetary terms, as well as by 3,6 percentage points in volume, with increases in sales to both EU countries and those outside the regional community, by 4,7 and 5,1 percentage points, respectively.
Imports also registered a year-on-year increase of 3,4% in value, driven by a 7,1 percentage point increase in imports from EU countries.
However, compared to the previous year, purchases from non-EU countries decreased by 1,1 percentage points in value, with a drop in volume of 7,7%, the source added.
