In a march held last year, Feliciana Macario, speaking on behalf of the group, admitted that channels of dialogue with the government are open.
However, she noted that a year has passed since the public announcement of the creation of the National Plan for Dignity and Reparation, and it has still not been approved.
This means, she added, that more than five years have passed without a single reparation measure being delivered to the victims of human rights violations.
Plans for searching for the disappeared, as well as for preserving archives and disseminating historical memory, have not yet been created, Macario emphasized to those present.
“Meanwhile, a budget increase was approved to continue paying the military personnel who participated in past crimes,” she emphasized.
This is an affront to the memory of the thousands of disappeared and massacred victims, she asserted.
Indigenous authorities then held a Mayan ceremony in the Central Plaza in memory of the victims.
