The campaign aims to garner support for the island in the face of the tightened US economic, commercial, and financial blockade.
The initiative has also been joined by the Venezuelan chapter of the ALBA Movements platform and the Articulating Council of Social Movements of the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity Among Peoples.
The call to action invites the Venezuelan people, social movements, political parties, collectives, professionals, and people of goodwill to join the campaign, which seeks to raise awareness about the defense of our America as a Zone of Peace, against militarization and foreign interference.
It also boosts solidarity actions with Cuba to mitigate the impact of the US blockade on the energy sector and daily life, focusing on the functioning of schools and hospitals, “giving preference to those boosted by Chavez and Fidel in tribute to our integration process.”
It also coordinates with international solidarity movements to denounce imperialism, the US blockade, the violation of international law, and demand the release of Constitutional President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady and legislator, Cilia Flores.
The text, to which Prensa Latina had access to, stated, “The priority is to acquire solar panels, medical supplies, and other prioritized aids” for the Caribbean nation.
