India calls for diplomacy to end war in the Middle East

New Delhi, 3 mar (Prensa Latina) India reiterated today its call for dialogue and diplomacy for the immediate cessation of the conflict in the Middle East and regretted the many lives it has caused so far, including Indian citizens.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry assured that nationals of the South Asian country are among those killed or missing as a result of the ongoing war of the United States and Israel against Iran.

He pointed out that in recent days, not only has the conflict escalated, but also spread to other nations and that, in addition to increased destruction and deaths, normal life and economic activities have been paralyzed.

“As a close neighbor with crucial interests in the security and stability of the region, these developments generate great anxiety,” the note specifies.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry added that nearly one million Indian citizens live and work in the Gulf region, and that their safety and well-being are the highest priority for the country.

“We cannot remain insensitive to any changes that affect them negatively.

Our trade and energy supply chains also run through this region. Any major disruption has serious consequences for the Indian economy,’ he pointed out.

India noted that as a country whose citizens rank prominently in the global labor force, it also strongly opposes attacks on merchant shipping.

“Some Indian citizens have already lost their lives or are missing as a result of these attacks in recent days,” he confirmed.

In this regard, the Foreign Ministry reiterated its strong call for dialogue and diplomacy and spoke out in favor of an early end to the conflict.
