During an interview with Iranian state television, the Foreign Minister reiterated that Tehran is not at war with any neighboring country and urged states in the region to “exert pressure” on Washington to halt attacks on Iranian territory.
Regarding the implications of an open conflict with the United States and Israel, Araqchi warned that “we have repeatedly alerted the countries of the region that this confrontation will not be limited to Iran and the United States.”
He added that his country is not seeking to expand the war, but stressed that, due to the proliferation of US military bases and installations in the region, such warnings are necessary.
“We cannot access US territory, but we can access its bases in the region, and from our perspective, these bases are legitimate targets because they are used to attack Iran,” he declared.
The Foreign Minister also pointed out that, even if it is claimed that some of these facilities were not used in actions against the Islamic Republic, “the fact that they belong to a country that attacks our cities, hospitals, and schools daily does not change their nature.”
Araqchi denounced the fact that more than 160 schoolgirls died in an attack on a school, an event which, he asserted, prevents Iran from remaining silent regarding the military infrastructure used for such operations.
