Cuban Americans across the country are uniting for a just, humane, and prosperous relationship between the United States and Cuba, the letter stated, insisting that “decades of ‘maximum pressure’ have only brought maximum suffering.”

The group, which identifies itself as “Cuban Americans united by a common goal: to end the US embargo (blockade) against Cuba,” said that “it is time for a new approach” and rejected the tightening of the unilateral blockade against the Caribbean nation following the executive order issued by Trump on January 29.

“As Cuban Americans, we condemn the latest escalation by the Trump administration against Cuba. His executive order (…) uses deprivation as a foreign policy tool,” it added.

It deliberately deepens the shortages, destabilizes a fragile economy already devastated by decades of blockade, and endangers the lives of our loved ones, the letter added.

For too long, Cuban Americans have been used to justify policies that inflict suffering on the Cuban people, the text published in X commented.

“We categorically reject that. We know exactly who will suffer the impact of these measures: our parents, our cousins, our friends.

Denying fuel only means exacerbating blackouts and food shortages,” it added.

As Cuban Americans from across the political spectrum, we say it clearly: not in our name, the letter emphasized. “Our identity,” it said, “will not be used to starve the island we came from.”

“We demand an end to the current oil sanctions, a complete end to the US blockade, and a renewed commitment to interaction and normalization between our countries,” it stated.

After more than six decades, the blockade has failed morally, strategically, and politically; and each new escalation only promises more suffering for our loved ones, it stressed.

That is why “it is time to leave this failed approach behind and prioritize dialogue, cooperation, and respect between the United States and Cuba,” it concluded.
