According to the Imedi 2 television network, the Georgian head of government’s letter emphasizes the “great importance” Tbilisi attaches to the historic relations of friendship and cooperation with Tehran.
“Our partnerships between countries and peoples are based on mutual respect,” states Kobakhidze’s letter, in which he also wished the people of Iran peace and prosperity.
Yesterday, Khamenei received congratulations on his election from Georgia’s neighbors in the South Caucasus: Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Previously, other Eastern European statesmen and traditional allies of Iran, such as Russia and Belarus, also extended their congratulations.
