Protest against US blockade on Cuba in front of US embassy in Chile

Santiago, Chile, Mar 11 (Prensa Latina) Demonstrators gathered outside the United States Embassy in this capital to reaffirm their support for Cuba, which is currently facing a complex situation due to the tightening of the US blockade, particularly regarding fuel.

Councilor Dafne Concha told Prensa Latina, “Today we come to tell the United States that Cuba is not alone and we will fight so that it can continue with its own project, defending its people.”

Concha noted that Cuba is an island of peace, is supportive, and has sent doctors around the world to help save lives.

Amaya Candia, president of the International Medical Society of Graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), highlighted that more than 32,000 doctors from 122 countries have been trained at that medical institution.

“That is one of the most important achievements internationally,” Candia said, and condemned the campaigns against the Cuban Medical Brigades aimed at minimizing all that the island has done for other nations.

The Solidarity Movement, the Communist Party (PCCh) and the Communist Youth (JJCC) of Chile, the Popular Propaganda Brigade, the ELAM-Chile group, and the Jose Marti Cultural Institute, among other organizations, organized the demonstration.
