Cuba recalls 148th anniversary of Baragua Protest

Havana, Mar 15 (Prensa Latina) "The name Baragua recalls Antonio Maceo's intransigence faced with a pact without independence," Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said after recalling this glorious episode in Cuban history.

Diaz-Canel stated in a post on his X profile, “We will always be indebted to that legacy of dignity.”

Prime Minister Manuel Marrero noted that this historic event placed the flags of the nation at their highest point and reaffirmed that Cuban intransigence remains undiminished.

One hundred and forty-eight years after the Baragua Protest, the Cuban people reaffirm to imperialism that, faced with attempts to undermine their sovereignty, they will give the decisive response of the Bronze Titan: “We do not understand each other.”

Cuba recalls this chapter of its history, as well as the courage and steadfastness of its protagonist, with immense pride.

It is no coincidence that the country’s banner has been an eternal Baragua.
