Moscow to host Russian-Indian strategic partnership conference

Moscow, Mar 20 (Prensa Latina) The city of Moscow will host on March 23 the second Russian-Indian conference on strategic partnership, announced today the TVBrics multinational channel.

The information specifies that the foreign ministers of both countries will open the annual meeting of diplomats, experts and representatives of specialized agencies from Russia and India under the title “Russia and India: towards a new agenda of bilateral relations”.

Speakers included the president of the Russian Council for International Affairs, Igor Ivanov, the Russian ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, and the chargé d’affaires of the Indian embassy in Russia, Nikhilesh Giri.

The agenda includes several thematic sessions. The plenary will discuss the role of Russia and India in shaping a multipolar world, the interaction of both countries with third states, and prospects for trade and economic cooperation.

According to conference materials, “Russian-Indian relations show a sustained positive dynamic, reaching in the mid-2020s record levels in multiple areas.

The evolution of bilateral ties confirms that rapprochement between Moscow and New Delhi is a long-term strategic priority for both countries.”

Special attention will be paid to economic cooperation. In fiscal year 2024-2025, bilateral trade reached a record $68.7 billion.

President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have set a target of $100 billion by 2030.

Some discussions will focus on logistics and transport connectivity, including the North-South international corridor, the Chennai-Vladivostok route, and the potential of the North Sea Route.

Special sessions will involve sectorial experts to discuss cooperation in agribusiness, culture, and labor and educational mobility.

Humanitarian cooperation remains a key pillar of the bilateral relationship. In 2024 alone, the number of Indian students in Russia grew by 35%.

By 2025, India ranked second among the far-flung countries with the largest number of migrant workers in Russia.

Both sides are working on simplifying visa regimes to encourage the growth of migration and tourism flows.

At the end of the conference, the organizers will prepare recommendations with concrete proposals for relevant ministries and agencies.
