Considered an “expert in the field,” Rodriguez stated on her Telegram account that Alvarez “assumes this responsibility at a time when global trade dynamics are fundamental for the development of a productive and diversified economy and for boosting Venezuela’s position in international markets.”
The acting president thanked diplomat Coromoto Godoy for her outstanding work leading the ministry.
Godoy was appointed by the acting president to head the Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic to the United Nations, replacing Ambassador Samuel Moncada, who had held that position since 2017 and will assume other responsibilities, according to the president.
Since taking office last January, Rodriguez has replaced a significant portion of his cabinet, including the heads of Defense, Transportation, Higher Education, Housing and Habitat, Electric Power, Public Works, Social Work, and Culture.
The reshuffle also extended to the Vice President for Public Works and Services, the leadership of the various branches of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, the Presidential Honor Guard, and the Directorate General of Military Counterintelligence.
