In addition to the economic restrictions in force for more than six decades, new measures of pressure, such as the executive order signed in January of this year by US President Donald Trump, through which he imposed an energy blockade on Cuba, have been added.
The organizers pointed out that the donations will be received at Independence Park, in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, with the participation of several social sectors.
The Campaign highlighted the solidarity tradition of that Caribbean nation, which, despite the limitations resulting from the economic, commercial, and financial blockade, has provided cooperation to many countries, including the Dominican Republic, and therefore considered this an opportune moment to reciprocate that support.
More than twenty social, cultural, patriotic, and community organizations in the country called on March 17 for strengthening solidarity with the Cuban people, highlighting the historical ties that unite both nations.
