China insists on trade talks for a sustainable relationship with US

Beijing, April 2 (Prensa Latina) China urged the United States to deepen trade dialogue to ensure a healthy and sustainable economic relationship.

Ministry of Commerce spokesman He Yadong noted that the two nations have completed six rounds of trade consultations.

In a regular press conference, he pointed out that the two sides achieved a series of results in the economic and trade sphere, and in his opinion, these advances brought greater stability and certainty to the bilateral relationship and the global economy.

He affirmed that mutual respect and dialogue on an equal footing are the best way to overcome differences.

The spokesman indicated that both countries should implement the consensus reached by their leaders and the previous results of negotiations.

He stressed the need to strengthen the Sino-US trade consultation mechanism and, in this regard, emphasized the importance of strengthening communication, properly managing differences, and expanding practical cooperation.

He Yadong noted that these actions will promote the healthy, stable, and sustainable development of bilateral economic ties.

Beijing has repeatedly described bilateral relations as stable; however, this stability faces challenges.

China recently announced the opening of two investigations into trade barriers against the United States in response to Washington’s actions under Section 301.

This is China’s response to two US investigations affecting Chinese companies.

The Office of the US Trade Representative initiated a Section 301 investigation on March 12 against 16 economies, including China, for alleged “overcapacity.”

The following day, Washington opened a similar investigation against 60 territories, citing imports linked to forced labor.

Beijing expressed its firm opposition to both initiatives, calling them practices that damage global supply chains.
