The mobilization is convened within the framework of the Free Land Camp 2026, organized by the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB), and under the theme “Congress, enemy of the people: our future is not for sale.”
The demonstration denounces an ongoing legislative offensive that, according to APIB, seeks to restrict constitutional rights, halt the demarcation of indigenous lands, and open these territories to economic exploitation.
The main concerns include the proposed constitutional amendment known as the “temporary framework,” already approved by the Senate, as well as several draft decrees that aim to suspend land demarcation processes in different regions of the country.
This mobilization also challenges initiatives that boost mining and agribusiness on indigenous lands, in addition to changes in legal procedures that could hinder the regularization of these territories.
Headquartered at the Ibero-American Cultural Center in Brasilia, from April 5 to 11, the Free Land Camp brings together more than 7,000 participants and is considered the largest mobilization of indigenous peoples in the country.
