Holding FITCuba 2026 will boost tourism, organizers say

Havana, April 8 (Prensa Latina) Holding the 44th International Tourism Fair of Cuba (FITCuba 2026), albeit in an online format, is a commitment to boosting the travel industry.

This view is shared by the organizers of the event and many professionals in the sector, including representatives of travel agencies and tour operators working with Cuba.

The goal is to reactivate Cuban tourism amidst the economic crisis, and this is a commendable effort, they noted.

The Fair will be held on May 7, 8, and 9 in a primarily online format, a decision that reflects both the country’s current limitations and the government’s determination not to abandon one of the strategic sectors for economic recovery.

On May 7 and 8, the online business meeting stand out, while on May 9, the event will open to the general public in person at Josone Park in Varadero, the resort town that has established itself as the event’s venue.

FITCuba 2026, with Canada as the guest of honor, is a response to the resource crisis, as organizing an international event of this magnitude in person requires millions of dollars in investment in infrastructure, transportation, and logistics.

By moving the business sessions to a virtual format, the Cuban Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) shows its adaptability and addresses its continuity and commercial message, since for tour operators, travel agencies, and international hotel chains, the fair remains an irreplaceable platform for finalizing contracts and planning the season.
