According to a statement sent to Prensa Latina by the coordinator of Cubainformación, Jose Manzaneda, the Basque Country Social Council (EHKS) and the Basque Country Students’ Association (IAS) will be in charge of the collections in collaboration with the Euskadi-Cuba association.
The donations to be sent to Cuba will be collected in 93 locations: EHKS will collect them on April 25, and IAS between April 13 and 24 in more than 100 schools and universities.
“Blackouts and fuel shortages have become commonplace and are damaging all aspects of daily life, including transportation, access to food and water, healthcare, and education,” commented the three groups in charge of the solidarity efforts.
They added that this situation is a consequence of “the isolationist and criminal policies of the United States against Cuba,” and that in recent years it has intensified with the embargo and the threat of military intervention by Donald Trump.
