Workers, students, organizations, and social movements gathered since early Thursday at several points in this capital to march through the streets and avenues, to conclude near the Miraflores Palace, the seat of government.
On his Wednesday TV program “Con el Mazo Dando,” Diosdado Cabello, Secretary General of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), responding to questions from the opposition, affirmed that they are marching “for our own reasons, because we want to, or because there is a need to march.”
Cabello underscored that they will not be conditioned by anyone and will now march to celebrate the two decades of this legal instrument, designed to promote People’s Power.
Venezuela currently has around 49,000 Communal Councils, organized into 5,336 communities and communal circuits nationwide.
These councils emerged to boost popular sovereignty, which is expressed in the four annual People Consultations, where the citizens define their development projects.
