New Delhi, Apr 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Ambassador to India, Juan Marsan, welcomed, in a recent interview with Russia Today, the relations between his country and India and denounced the economic war imposed by the United States against the Caribbean nation.

In the most recent episode of India, Russia, and the World, Marsan welcomed the long history shared by New Delhi and Havana and remembered that both countries are celebrating 66 years of bilateral relations.

The ambassador stated that his nation supports India’s bid for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), arguing that the Global South needs to occupy a relevant position.

The diplomat added that India, Russia, and China are Cuba’s important partners, citing Moscow’s presence in the island’s energy and transportation sectors, as well as China’s assistance with the Caribbean nation’s energy transition.

The official also noted that Russia launched an important message to the world when it sent an oil tanker to Cuba last month, at a time when the United States tightened its blockade against the Caribbean nation with the oil siege in January.

The Cuban ambassador noted that this gesture showed Moscow’s ability to disregard the rules imposed by the United States.

Marsan stated that the US blockade on Cuba is an economic war against the island nation, and described as unacceptable the United States’ concept of “use of force to achieve peace,” which implies that the countries must submit to its interests.
