During the “Urbi et Orbi” blessing, given at the liturgy celebrated in Kilamba as part of his pastoral visit to the country, the pontiff noted that the truce initiated in Lebanon is a sign of hope and a relief for the Lebanese people.
He reiterated his call to silence the weapons and seek a path of dialogue, while also embracing the cries of pain of those who suffer and asking that “the light of faith and with it, hope for a better world” remain alive in them.
He lamented the recent intensification of attacks against Ukraine and the suffering of the people of that country, whom he assured he keeps in his prayers.
At Mass, the Pope called on Angolans to overcome, once and for all, the old divisions, hatred, and violence, in order to rebuild the country and heal “the wound of corruption” by replacing it with a new approach based on justice and sharing.
“Only in this way will a future of hope be possible, especially for our young people,” he emphasized, adding that “today it is necessary to look to the future with hope and to build the hope of a future.”
