Santo Domingo supports Cuba and rejects US blockade

Santo Domingo, April 20 (Prensa Latina) Dozens of Dominican organizations reaffirmed their support for Cuba and rejected the US economic and oil blockade at an event held in the historic Independence Park in Santo Domingo's Colonial City.

  Convened by the Dominican Campaign of Solidarity with Cuba, representatives of various groups chanted slogans and displayed signs with messages such as “Let Cuba live in peace!” and “Cuba is not alone!”, and waved the national flags of both countries.

  During the event, a floral offering was placed on behalf of the Campaign and the Honorary Committee established in the Dominican Republic for the Centennial of Fidel Castro’s birth. Roberto Payano, president of the Campaign, stated: “We support a sister nation that loves and defends peace.”

  For her part, Maria Teresa Cabrera, secretary of the Broad Front, expressed that Cuba is a source of inspiration for its capacity to uphold its sovereignty against a power like the United States, while also describing the economic and oil embargo imposed by Washington on the island as “criminal and unjust.”

  Meanwhile, Narciso Isa Conde, representing the Force of the Revolution and the Caamanista Movement, pointed out that whoever opposes Cuba will also oppose the peoples of the world, who, he said, will respond firmly.

  Similarly, Julio Díaz Campuzano, of the Homeland for All party, exoressed that the Caribbean nation, as an example of dignity in placing its Revolution at the service of humanity and just causes, will continue to be a beacon for the struggle of the peoples in Latin America and the Caribbean.

  The Maximo Gomez Association of Cubans Residing in the Dominican Republic reaffirmed its support for its native land,, as also did the Rebel Movement, the Communist Party of Labor, and the Dominican Popular Movement. Ambassador Angel Arzuaga, along with the Cuban diplomatic staff in Santo Domingo, expressed their gratitude for the warm embrace of solidarity.
