The Unitary Workers’ Union (CUT), along with the Metropolitan Coordinating Committee of Residents, called for a joint mobilization in the capital, with unity as its central theme.
The march will begin outside the CUT headquarters, close to La Moneda Palace, and will tour several blocks to Portugal Street, near the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center, where the main event will take place.
It aims to project a broad mobilization and strengthen the coordination between the labor and territorial world, Leonel Sepulveda, vice president of Organization at the CUT, said.
Valeria Bustos, of the coordinating committee of residents, warned that this year’s International Workers’ Day celebration will take place in a context marked by possible setbacks in social gains.
The talks between the CUT and the government to set the minimum wage concluded on Tuesday without an agreement.
