Under the slogan “Blokeorik Ez! Kubarekin Elkartasuna!” (“No to the blockade! Solidarity with Cuba!”), the initiative is taking place throughout May at its Bilbao and Vitoria-Gasteiz offices, in coordination with the Euskadi-Cuba association, which will channel the supplies to the island, the Cubainformacion website reported.
The campaign rejects the economic blockade imposed by the United States on the island, now in the form of a total oil embargo, and seeks to channel material aid from the Basque Country.
Meanwhile, a humanitarian mission will set sail from Spain for the Caribbean island, with the flotilla called “Heading to Cuba,” departing on May 10 from the port of Barcelona aboard the Astral, a ship belonging to the Open Arms association.
The crew has scheduled stops in Valencia, Malaga, Cadiz, and Las Palmas.
