A statement published by Cassa di Risparmio Foundation, the entity organizing the exhibition, which is themed “Fidel: History of a Leader – The Man Who Defied the Century,” pointed out that it will be open to the public from June 12 at the Bisaccioni Palace in Jesi.
VThis exhibition on Fidel, “the undisputed protagonist of Cuban history and a central figure of the 20th century, is organized to commemorate the centenary of his birth, on August 13, 1926, as well as the tenth anniversary of his death, and offers an opportunity to reflect on his legacy,” the document states.
This overview of his career highlights pivotal moments, such as the attack on the Moncada Barracks, the Granma yacht landing, the rebel struggle in the Sierra Maestra mountains, the revolutionary triumph of 1959, the victory at Playa Girón, and the Cuban Missile Crisis, among many others.
It also delves into “the political, social, and economic transformations that followed the revolutionary victory of 1959, from the Land Reform to the Literacy Campaign, from the nationalization of industries to the reorganization of the healthcare system,” the statement adds.
It includes his support for sports, education, science, and the arts, which enabled significant achievements in the country, despite the continuous aggression of U.S. imperialism, including a criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade aimed at halting and destroying the revolutionary project.
This exhibition, one of the initiatives taking place in Italy since the beginning of this year to pay tribute to Fidel Castro on the centenary of his birth, will close at the end of 2026. It will offer visitors an opportunity to explore his thought, his struggle, and his relevance as a statesman, both nationally and internationally.
