China confirms Trump’s visit focused on stabilizing ties

Beijing, May 11 (Prensa Latina) The Chinese Foreign Ministry officially confirmed the visit of US President Donald Trump to this country from May 13 to 15.

Although the White House had already announced the date, Beijing had yet to confirm the agenda in a cautious move amid a turbulent and complex international environment, mainly because Washington had already postponed this visit, initially scheduled for April.

Issues such as stabilizing bilateral relations, a trade truce, tariff increases, and each country’s views on the politicization of the economy are on the table for discussion. Other topics include Taiwan, considered by Beijing to be the biggest risk factor in bilateral relations, the situation in the Middle East, and the war on Iran.

Several experts also predict that issues related to Latin America and the Caribbean will be present, given the United States’ aggressive policy in that region.

Washington is focused on “eliminating” the supposed threat that China’s presence poses to its national security.

This will be the first visit to China by a US president in almost nine years and comes at a time of growing tensions between the two countries.
