In a statement signed by its president, Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, vice presidents Nilotpal Basu and Pallab Sengupta, and its secretary general, Suman Putatunda, the solidarity organization rejected Washington’s imposition of an energy embargo that increases the hardships of the Cuban people, already affected by the more than 60-year-long economic, commercial, and financial blockade.
FOLA India also denounced the threats of a military attack against the Caribbean nation made by President Donald Trump, which signifies increased tensions in the region and constitutes an unacceptable show of force against a sovereign nation, it emphasized.
Furthermore, it considered the measure part of a broader pattern of intimidation designed to destabilize Cuba and undermine its independence.
At this critical juncture, the organization expressed its unwavering solidarity with the Communist Party and the people of Cuba in their struggle to defend their sovereignty and their socialist achievements.
Likewise, it called upon all revolutionary, progressive, and democratic forces worldwide to raise their voices against imperialist aggression and demand the immediate and unconditional lifting of the US blockade against Cuba.
Furthermore, FOLA-India urged the Indian government to continue its consistent support for the island in international forums, including the United Nations, and to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
