Rene Gonzalez, director of the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, described, in a meeting with members of the Cuban state mission in Hanoi, the Vietnamese publishing house’s willingness to release the 23 volumes of the collection as an extraordinary show of solidarity.
The visit by Gonzalez and his delegation responds to the invitation by Su That and comes at a particularly significant moment for Cuba, which, in a context characterized by the tightened blockade, pressure, and military threats from the United States government, is preparing to commemorate the 100th birthday of the Commander-in-Chief.
“You cannot say no to Fidel,” was the response Gonzalez received from Su That executives when he sought support for the publication of the Selected Works, a project cherished by the Center since its founding in November 2021, he said.
The renowned historian stated that the collection will be translated into English and Vietnamese languages, will be made available on the Center’s website, and will be given away in digital format to participants in the First International Colloquium “Fidel: Legacy and Future,” to be held at the Havana-based Conference Center on August 10-13.
