Cuban writers’ gathering honors Francisco Lopez Sacha’s legacy

Havana, May 20 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Culture highlighted the importance of the "Contar con Sacha" (Telling with Sacha) Writers' Gathering in Matanzas province, where they will pay tribute to Cuban writer Francisco Lopez Sacha.

The three-day event brings together authors from Havana and Matanzas in a program that includes theoretical panels, public readings, narrative technique workshops, book presentations, and spaces for reflection.

The opening ceremony took place at Casa de las Letras Digdora Alonso, headquarters of Ediciones Matanzas, with the panel “Voy a escribir la eternidad” (I’m Going to Write Eternity), featuring Dazra Novak, Karla Flores, Ulises Rodriguez Febles, and Norge Cespedes, moderated by Maylan Alvarez, the ministry announced on social media.

In the afternoon, young storytellers such as Nathaly Hernandez Chavez, Raul Piad, and Luis Enrique Mirambert will share their work at Casa de la Memoria Escenica, while the Gener y del Monte Library will host a special sale of narrative fiction accompanied by music from the Sachariana school.

The Pena del Maiz Regado is planned, featuring readings for children and young people, along with the workshop La Buena Pipa, on narrative techniques, at the headquarters of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in the city of Matanzas, the publication added.

Meanwhile, Friday will conclude with the collective reading of Dorado Mundo (Golden World) and the awards ceremony for the short story contest El Que Va Con la Luz, at Ernesto Triolet Pharmaceutical Museum, where pianist Elvira Santiago will perform.

The event, sponsored by institutions such as the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the Gener y del Monte Public Library, Aldabin Publishing House, and Ernesto Triolet Pharmaceutical Museum, is a space for dialogue between words, memory, and creation, in defense of Cuban literature and its cultural impact.
