The Ethiopian News Agency noted that Muluneh revealed that experts from Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda will be part of the IGAD delegation deployed during the elections.
He specified that the mission, invited by Ethiopia, aims to assess whether the voting process complies with regional and international standards, assisting local authorities in ensuring a free and fair process.
Muluneh stated, “We, of course, support fair and free elections in general; and we promote democratization and good governance in our region, including Ethiopia.”
The 7th General Election in Ethiopia is considered a critical milestone in the country’s democratic transition, with national and international attention focused on the conduct and credibility of the process.
The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) announced that 50,514,155 citizens were registered to vote, despite reported financial and operational challenges in some regions of the country.
