“We require an increase in the deployment of personnel from other states to local entities such as the Gang Repression Force (GRF), whose work is essential for the lasting restoration of security and stability,” Haitian Foreign Minister Raina Forbin added according to an official statement.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship highlighted the efforts in this regard by the government of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aime, speaking in Rabat, Morocco, at the Second Ministerial Conference on Peacekeeping in Francophone Environments.
“Haiti needs, now more than ever, the collaboration of the rest of the world,” Forbin emphasized, according to the statement, “to restore state authority, strengthen public security, and create the conditions for a return to democratic and constitutional order.” “Given the magnitude of the crisis,” she asserted, “we request a stronger, faster, and more sustained international commitment. Unfortunately, the delays have had a considerable human cost.”
The Minister thanked the international partners committed to supporting Haiti in restoring security, including those contributing to the integration of the GRF, such as Chad, Sri Lanka, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Mongolia, and El Salvador.
