This statement was adopted by the 25th congress of the union, which is affiliated with the PIT-CNT (National Confederation of Workers).
“We denounce the measures that deepen the economic strangulation of the island, such as the inclusion of Cuba on the list of state sponsors of terrorism and the obstacles to international transactions and fuel supplies,” the statement reads.
It also condemns “the constant threats of military action that violate international law and the sovereignty of the Cuban people.”
“These hostile actions are nothing more than a desperate attempt to break the dignity of a nation that has withstood more than six decades of uninterrupted aggression,” the university employees’ union affirms.
We categorically reject this policy of encirclement and intimidation, which has already caused concrete and irreparable damage in sensitive sectors such as health, culture, and education, depriving the Cuban people of medicines, educational materials, and technology, the text continues.
And the Affur statement concludes: “Today more than ever, we stand with Cuba, despite the empire and all its threats.”
