The agency noted that the Fuels and Extractive Industries group represented the main category of foreign sales during the period under review, reporting an amount of US$2.09 billion.
According to DANE, this figure represents a 46.2 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year, driven by the increase in sales of oil and petroleum products.
In summary, the country sold 14.2 million barrels of crude oil during the fourth month, an 18 percent increase year-on-year.
With this result, according to the agency, the mining and energy sector led Colombia’s export basket, accounting for 45.4 percent of the total value.
The agricultural, food, and beverage sector reported 22.2 percent; manufacturing, 18.7 percent; while other sectors accounted for the remaining 13.7 percent.
The United States remained the largest buyer of Colombian products, with a 31.3 percentage point share of the total value shipped abroad. Panama, Canada, Italy, India, Peru, and Mexico follow in importance.
