Tajani expressed, in a videoconference exchange with the heads of Italian diplomatic missions, his concern about the escalation of tensions following the Israeli and US aggression against Iran.
The serious situation in Lebanon was also analyzed. The country is facing a new wave of attacks from Tel Aviv that began in early March, leaving about 3,000 dead and 1.5 million displaced.
A statement released on the Foreign Ministry’s website noted that the discussion also addressed security in several countries in the region, with particular attention to the situation of Italian citizens and consular assistance activities.
Tajani requested that Embassies and Consulates, in coordination with the Ministry’s Crisis Unit, maintain the highest level of vigilance, continue to constantly monitor the evolving situation, and take measures to guarantee assistance to Italian citizens in countries of that region.
