In a statement, the Foreign Ministry indicated that it endangers the population, critical civilian infrastructure, and destabilizes the region.
Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares condemned on social media “the breakdown of the ceasefire between Israel and Iran,” following the bombings launched the previous day by Tehran, to which the government of Benjamin Netanyahu responded.
“I condemn the breakdown of the ceasefire between Israel and Iran… resorting to violence again will bring even more suffering,” Albares stated on X. At the same time, he insisted that “only dialogue and diplomacy guarantee peace and stability in the region” and argued that “an immediate de-escalation is necessary.”
“There is no military solution in the Middle East,” he reiterated.
The Foreign Ministry statement emphasized that the international community must assume its responsibility to restore stability, as well as respect for international law and the sovereignty and integrity of states.
