Thai Prime Minister’s visit strengthens ties with Vietnam

Hanoi, Jun 8 (Prensa Latina) The official visit to Vietnam, which started on Monday by Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, will contribute to strengthening the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, recently elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Charnvirakul, who will attend the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum during his stay, arrived in this capital accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas, and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun.

Defense Minister Adul Boonthumjaroen, Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit, Energy Minister Akanat Promphan, and Industry Minister Varawut Silpa-archa, among others, also came to this nation.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, Pham Viet Hung, told VNA that this visit is a concrete and significant demonstration of the importance the Thai Government attaches to strengthening the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Vietnam and Thailand established diplomatic relations on August 6, 1976, and since then, cooperation between the two countries has developed rapidly, both in scope and depth, particularly after Hanoi joined ASEAN in 1995.

The two nations issued a Joint Declaration on the Framework for Bilateral Cooperation in February 2004 and elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership in June 2013, becoming the first two ASEAN countries to establish this framework,
