Song Junying, director of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), affirmed that exchanges between the two sides have a strong internal driving force.
Song noted that the two regions share historical experiences marked by colonial and imperialist oppression and face similar challenges in their development and modernization processes.
The academician pointed out that China and Latin America seek to break down structures of dependency and possess cultural traditions that boost harmony, respect for differences, and mutual understanding.
Song also emphasized that the collective rise of the Global South creates new opportunities to strengthen cooperation among developing countries.
