The report states that the opposition bloc Strong Armenia intends to challenge the results of the June 7 parliamentary elections before the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Armenia, demanding a recount of the votes for the Civil Contract party of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Strong Armenia’s representative to the CEC, Narek Karapetian, denounced that on election day, authorities deployed military personnel to polling stations, and in those locations where a recount was demanded, the votes for the Civil Contract party decreased drastically.

In a video message, Karapetian added that if the Central Election Commission (CEC) does not respond promptly, the bloc plans to appeal to the Constitutional Court. Karapetian stressed that the alliance “will go further and demand a review of the results.”

Previously, several Armenian political groups demanded a recount of votes in 555 polling stations following the June 7 parliamentary elections.

The Strong Armenia bloc had previously demanded that the results of the vote in one of the polling stations in Artashat be invalidated due to the absence of ballots for one party.

The chairman of the Central Election Commission, Vahagn Hovakimian, announced the possibility that opposition forces would challenge the election results before the Constitutional Court.
