Serafina Nunez (1913-2006) was one of the most unique and refined voices in 20th-century Cuban poetry, although her widespread public recognition came late.
Her first book, “La Rosa de Sauco” (The Elderflower), appeared in 1936. Still, it was with later titles such as “Moradas Para La Vida” (Dwellings for Life, 1962) and “En Las Serenas Margenes” (On the Serene Riverbanks, 1981), where she consolidated an intimate and transcendent poetic voice.
The distinctive style of her poetry, often described as neo-romantic or transcendentalist, moves beyond the circumstantial to explore themes such as love, nature, time, and artistic creation.
The event, sponsored by the Cuban Book Institute (ICL), will take place on Calle de Madera, next to the emblematic Plaza de Armas (Arms Square) in Old Havana, under the auspices of the Jose Marti publishing house.
