“The United States must exert all necessary pressure on the Israeli leadership,” the French Foreign Minister, quoted by the radio station Franceinfo, declared.
Israel must respect the agreement reached between the United States and Iran, stated Barrot, who recalled that the memorandum of understanding signed remotely on June 17 includes the need to end hostilities in Lebanon.
“The first principle established by this agreement reached between the United States and Iran is the cessation of hostilities on all fronts, and particularly in Lebanon,” the head of French diplomacy commented.
“The Lebanese are desperate. They have paid a very high price for this conflict they did not want,” lamented the Foreign Minister, after Israeli bombings caused more than 3,900 deaths, the vast majority of them civilians, and the evacuation of southern Lebanon.
According to Barrot, the Hezbollah resistance movement, so far the only one that has demonstrated the capacity to confront Israeli aggression, must undergo a disarmament process.
