“At this moment, we must consider what is happening to the sovereignty of a people, of a dignified republic that has defended its political system and its people,” said Rosales, who pointed to the coercive measures implemented by Washington against the Caribbean nation.
The legislator, of the ruling National Regeneration Movement (MORENA) party, presented two audiovisual materials about the effects of the energy siege.
The congresswoman stated, “I hope this illustration can show a little of what is happening to the Cuban people, to the children in hospitals and, if there are power outages and they are in the emergency room and require mechanical ventilation, have no way to receive this treatment.”
She highlighted the stance of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum in supporting Cuba through the shipment of material aid, but stressed, “electricity is needed.”
Addressing the session of the Permanent Commission of Congress, Rosales affirmed that the measures implemented by the administration of US President Donald Trump are aimed at stifling the island’s economy.
