During the exchange at the diplomatic headquarters, the Deputy Minister briefed those present on her work agenda, which included a meeting with the Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Mexican Foreign Ministry, Raquel Serur.
The Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister conveyed to Serur the gratitude of the Cuban government and people for Mexico’s expressions of solidarity, showed through statements and actions, including the systematic shipment of substantial material aid.
They shared viewpoints on the international and regional situation, and Vidal updated her counterpart on the impact of the intensified economic blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba and its people.
In an interview earlier with Canal Red America Latina, the Deputy Foreign Minister described the economic war imposed by Washington as brutal and denounced its attempt to completely strangle the Cuban economy.
She mentioned the implementation of the energy blockade, “a completely illegal measure,” stemming from an executive order signed on January 29 by US President Donald Trump.
As part of her visit to Mexico, Vidal also met with members of the Mexico-Cuba Brotherhood Group and plans to meet with solidarity organizations.
