According to the institution, the gathering will pay tribute to Cuban poet Flor Loynaz—the youngest of the four talented Loynaz siblings—on the 41st anniversary of her passing.
The event is free of charge for the general public interested in exploring her work.
The session will be led by writer and center director Tomasa Gonzalez, winner of the National Literature Prize (2019).
Flor Loynaz (1908–1985)—a Cuban poet with an “extraordinary and, therefore, transgressive personality”—was named after the Mambí General Flor Crombet, the center noted in its invitation.
Her sister, the celebrated Dulce Maria Loynaz (winner of the Miguel de Cervantes Prize for Literature), stated that Flor would “rightfully occupy a leading place in Cuban poetry and beyond.” Flor’s poetry, marked by a highly distinctive style, reflects a life of passion, rebellion, and keen lucidity, the invitation added.
This event is part of the regular programming at the Dulce Maria Loynaz Cultural Center, which promotes the legacy of one of the Caribbean nation’s most significant literary families.
