Relations between the United States and Saudi Arabia have deteriorated due to Riyadh’s anger over Washington’s decision to launch a war against Iran, states the unsigned article, citing “intelligence sources.”
Relations between Riyadh and Washington have worsened because of the war, according to the report, which references an article published by the US daily *The Wall Street Journal*.
The Saudi refusal to allow the United States to use bases within its territory to break Tehran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz appears to be the bone of contention, the newspaper adds.
That refusal deprived US forces of the use of bases and airspace crucial to the operation, forcing it to be aborted, the report states.
In reality, it was Tehran’s response—firing volleys of cruise missiles and drones at US military installations in countries on the Arabian Peninsula and at Israel—that curbed their actions, according to international analysts.
Since the June 2025 attacks during the so-called “12-Day War,” the United States and Israel had taken for granted that Tehran’s military capabilities had been neutralized—a flawed and costly assessment.
